Edmonton's Indigenous Business & Professional Association Membership Directory

Making Edmonton the Indigenous Business & Professional Capital of Canada

AKSIS Membership Marketplace

Empowering Indigenous Excellence in Edmonton

AKSIS is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors comprised of recognized leaders from Edmonton’s Indigenous business & professional community. The Board convenes monthly and represents voting members (Indigenous business and professionals) and associate members (local business and government partners).

Our guiding principles serve as the foundation upon which we build each AKSIS initiative. We will continually work to deliver these standards to each of our members, so that together we can better the Indigenous community as a whole.

Driving Economic Growth with the Indigenous Business Directory

AKSIS is committed to fostering economic growth and reconciliation and has proven so by developing a comprehensive “Indigenous Business Directory/Marketplace”. This initiative aims to enhance visibility, create networking opportunities, and support economic empowerment for Indigenous-owned businesses in the Edmonton and surrounding area.
Currently, no centralized platform consolidates Indigenous businesses into a user-friendly directory in Edmonton. By addressing this gap, AKSIS has positioned itself as a leader in Indigenous economic development and data sovereignty while advancing its strategic goals through the following objectives:

01.   Supporting Indigenous Businesses:

The platform will serve as a dedicated space for Indigenous businesses to showcase their products, services, and stories, boosting their market reach and business development potential.

02.   Promoting Economic Reconciliation:

Strengthening connections between Indigenous and non-Indigenous businesses, buyers, and communities, the directory will foster partnerships that contribute to a more inclusive economy.

03.   Tracking Economic Impact:

Through data collection and reporting, the platform will highlight the economic contributions of Indigenous businesses, providing valuable insights to support advocacy and policy development in Edmonton and beyond.

By creating this essential business directory, AKSIS aims to be a driving force in Indigenous economic prosperity, building a more equitable, connected, and vibrant business ecosystem in the Edmonton and Surrounding Area.
